The Opportunity

Walker Sime is delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Based in Monk Fryston, you’ll play a key commercial role across a portfolio of projects, working closely with operational teams to ensure commercial performance, contract compliance and successful project delivery from start to finish.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a senior position, or an established Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to join a business that values collaboration, professional development and long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial delivery of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.
• Prepare, review and negotiate subcontract packages.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Produce accurate valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage change control, compensation events and contractual claims.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and commercial forecasts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.

About You

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential).
• Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
• Experience managing subcontractors and client relationships.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• A proactive, organised and collaborative approach.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
• Membership of RICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
